Obituary for Claire R. Youse
Claire R. Youse, 97, of Kimball Farms Lifecare Community in Lenox, formerly of Pittsfield, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on July 10, 1917, the daughter of Ottavio and Helena
Sutty Rocca, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1934 graduate of Pittsfield High
School. From 1941 to 1946, Mrs. Youse was employed in the office of the Berkshire County Superior Court. She then transferred to the office of the Berkshire County Commissioners
where she worked until 1972. From 1972 until her retirement in 1976, Mrs. Youse held the
position of Assistant Court Clerk of the Berkshire County Superior Court.
Mrs. Youse was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was a
former member of the Sons of Italy ITAM Lodge 564. For many years, she volunteered in
the Gift Shop at the Hillcrest Campus of Berkshire Health Systems.
Her husband, Robert E. Youse, whom she married September 16, 1978, died October 5,
1991. Mrs. Youse is survived by two sisters, Louise F. Cella and her husband, Dr. Robert J.
Cella, of Pittsfield, and Joan F. Gunnells and her husband, LB Gunnells, of Berwyn, Pennsylvania;
as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and
nephews. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Elena Tamburello, who died in July 2005.
Louise and Karen and the other members of Mrs. Youse's family wish to express their sincere appreciation to HospiceCare in The Berkshires and to Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center for the kind and compassionate care given to Mrs. Youse.
FUNERAL NOTICE:
At Mrs. Youse's request, funeral services were private. Burial is in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires or to the Berkshire Humane Society both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54
