The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Burton Francis can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Sales Lesson

Growing up down the road from the Francis home has some of my best childhood memories - from Super Bowl parties, cookouts, or just hanging around the house was - I was always welcome. This particular memory of Burt has stuck with me through the years, and it came when Spencer and I were selling Cubscout popcorn door-to-door. Burt was driving us, and would exit the vehicle and hang about 20 feet back, letting Spencer and I do our selling. After one sell, the customer had said "thank you". We naturally replied "you're welcome". We got back into the car and Burt had told us that when you are selling, you don't accept thank you's. He told us to say "No no no, thank you". Spencer and I made sure to say that at every house from then on, kinda making fun of it. But as it's almost been 20 years, and as a salesman today, I still use that phrase that Burt taught me so long ago. RIP Burt -Nolan
