Obituary for Antoinette E Towson
Antoinette E. Towson, 91 of Agawam, MA, formerly of Hinsdale, MA, passed away Tuesday, April 9. She was born on January 30, 1928 in Westfield, MA to the late Aniello and Elizabeth (Grimaldi) Pignatare.
She was employed at the University of Mass Amherst Psychological Services Dept for 25 years. When she retired in 1987, a therapy room was dedicated to her and she was the recipient of Chancellor’s Citation.
She was married in 1950 to the late James A. Towson, who predeceased her on May 14, 2013.
She enjoyed gardening at her home on Lake Ashmere and crocheting. She also was an accomplished award winning accordion player from the age of 11.
Mrs. Towson leaves behind her son, Neil J. Towson (Patricia) of Vero Beach, FL, and daughters Lynn Lanoue (Harlan) of Monterey, MA and Lisa Snape (Laurence) of Chicopee, MA; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Towson. She also leaves many close friends at the Quail Run Estates.
The family will hold a memorial reception at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dr. George L. Curran Post #996 VFW in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
