Leocadia V "Lee"  Symanski
Leocadia “Lee” Virginia Szymanski, 96, formerly of Pittsfield, MA, passed away April 3, 2018 at West Hartford Health and Rehab in West Hartford, CT. She was born November 12, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Antony and Marianne Menda Sadowski.

Lee was a 1939 graduate of Melvindale High School. She married Peter Szymanski on March 2, 1946, who predeceased her on August 17, 2002. She worked as a supervisor in the accounting department at Berkshire Rehabilitation Center for 23 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a communicant of St. Charles Church, and a member of their Rosary Society. Lee also enjoyed candlepin bowling, was a member of the Women’s Club of Pittsfield, and of a Wednesday card club. She also held a broker and real estate license.

Lee leaves a son, Peter Szymanski and his wife Karen Voss of Denver, CO; three daughters, Katherine Szymanski of Spokane, WA, Theresa Szymanski and her husband Jim Clary of West Hartford, CT, Laura Wojtowicz and her husband Jim of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Jason, Ericka, Aaron, Seth, and Sarah; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her three sisters, Pauline Stawowczyk, Rosalie Burtka, and Mary Prohownik; as well as two brothers, Cas and John Sadowski. She also was predeceased by a son, Paul Szymanski who died in 1952, and her grandson Benjamin Parsons who died in 2012.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Lee will be held, Tuesday April 10, 2018 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Charles Church in Pittsfield, MA. Burial will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery. Calling hours will be held, Monday, April 9, 2018 from 4:00-7:00pm at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield, MA.
