Obituary for Helen P. Iwanowicz

Helen P. Iwanowicz, 84, of Peru Road in Windsor died Friday evening at Curtis Manor Rest Home in Dalton where she had resided since December. Born on June 8, 1923 in Lee, MA she was the daughter of the late Alfonso and Virginia Brandise Paterno. She was educated in Lee schools and had resided in Windsor since 1958. She married her husband, the late Alexander J. Iwanowicz on October 12, 1954 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenoxdale. He died on November 21, 1998. A homemaker, she had worked in the 1940's at General Electric in Pittsfield. From 1945-1959 she worked for New England Telephone & Telegraph as a telephone operator in Lee and in Pittsfield. She retired in 1959. Mrs. Iwanowicz was a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Dalton and was also very active with the Windsor Council on Ageing and the Windsor Library. She enjoyed reading and antiques. She leaves her loving son and daughter-in-law, James and Mary Beth Iwanowicz and her grandchildren, Alexander and Amy all of Windsor. She also leaves her sister, Mary McDermott of Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Iwanowicz will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church in Dalton celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Her burial will take place in the spring in Wentworth Cemetery in Windsor. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. Agnes Church or to Hospice care in the Berkshires both in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226 which is in charge of arrangements.
