Obituary for Josephine B. "Domie" Urban
Josephine B. "Domie" Urban, 92, a longtime resident of Lenox Avenue in Pittsfield passed away on July 8, 2016 at the home of her niece and her husband, Joan and Paul Davis of 54 New Lenox Road in Lenox with whom she resided. Born on March 19, 1924 in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Martha Roman Urban. She was a 1942 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She was employed for forty-five years as a draftsman at General Electric in the transformer division retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Charles Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and GE Pensioners Club. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles and her Manhattans. A self-taught artist, she was a dedicated supporter of Paralyzed Veterans. She also enjoyed tennis, skiing, and golfing and was admired as "the favorite aunt". She leaves her niece, Joan Davis and her husband Paul of Lenox with whom she resided. A sister; Eleanor Digeser of Athens, NY and a brother; John Urban of Pittsfield. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters; Catherine Calebaugh, Theresa Hetzel, Gertrude Allen, Martha Jones and Anna Terry.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Josephine B. "Domie" Urban who died July 8, 2016 will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Church in Lenox celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor John Bonzagni, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The omission of flowers is requested and memorial donations in memory of "Domie" may be made to St. Mary's School in Lee in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is handling arrangements.
