Obituary for Sharon McKenna

Sharon Gail Stone McKenna, 64, of 19 Weston Ave, Dalton, passed away September 5, 2018 at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Plattsburg, NY on November 18, 1953, the daughter of Joseph P. and Helen E. Mitchell Stone, she was educated in New York schools. After high school, she went on to secretary school.

Sharon married Francis “Frank” J. McKenna on August 26, 1978 who predeceased her on October 28, 2017.
Primarily a homemaker, she worked as a teacher’s aide many years ago. She enjoyed reading, especially Lord of The Rings and The Hunger Games, they were a sci-fi family, and she also loved to cook.

Mrs. McKenna leaves behind her daughter, Amie Brown of Hughesville, PA; son, John McKenna of Dalton,
MA; two brothers Herman Stone and Ronald Senecal, both of Plattsburg, NY; sisters, Carol Marth of Melbourne, FL, Dorothy Derrick of Picture Rocks, PA, and Sheila Rhone and Jean Hughes, both of Hughesville, PA; her mother-in-law, Sarah Freedman of Port Charlotte, FL; brother-in-law, Russell Freedman of Port Charlotte, FL; four grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Joseph and Mara. She was predeceased by her sisters, Shirley Gantt and Betty Webb.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mrs. McKenna will be held, FRIDAY, September 7, 2018 at 7:00pm at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in DALTON, celebrated by Rev. Warren C. Dews, Jr. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00pm-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
