Obituary for Daniel William McDonald

Daniel William McDonald, 69, formerly of Lee, died Friday, August 17, 2018, at Williamstown Commons.

Born in Pittsfield on March 16, 1949, son of the late Francis E. and Agnes A. Massimiano McDonald, he was a 1967 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a graduate of East Coast Aero Technical School.

A Vietnam veteran and member of the United States Naval Reserve, Mr. McDonald was called to active duty on October 13, 1970. He served sixteen months overseas, and was honorably discharged on September 10, l972.

Mr. McDonald had been employed by Coca-Cola for 15 years. He then went to work for Mead Paper Company from where he retired in November 2008 after 15 years of service there, as well.

He loved spending time with his daughter. He enjoyed playing guitar and softball.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his daughter, Chelsea D. McDonald, of Lee; a sister, Christine A. (husband Richard) Bieniek of Lanesborough; two nieces, Jennifer (husband Timothy) Belanger of Pittsfield, Mass., and Kimberly (husband John) Gorman of Southwick, Mass; and a nephew, Damon (wife Melissa) Bieniek of Clifton Park, N.Y.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Daniel William McDonald will be held Wednesday, August 22, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in PITTSFIELD. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, August 23, at 11:30 a.m., at ST. JOSEPH’S CEMETERY with Rev. Matthew Guidi, Pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire officiating. Those attending are invited to meet inside the Cemetery gate at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
