Obituary for David J Riddell

David Joseph Riddell, 42, of 30 Elaine Avenue, Dalton, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Born on September 8, 1975, the son of Jane S. Mazur Riddell, he was a 1993 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. He went on to attend Berkshire Community College.

David married his childhood sweetheart, Molly Gallagher, and they would have celebrated their 10 year anniversary on September 20, 2018. He dedicated his life work to Sinicon Plastics for the last 26 years, starting as a machine operator and eventually rising to the position of production manager.

David took much pride in his abilities to help others. He loved to accomplish tasks that others thought were impossible, which was a trait he learned from his grandfather’s Norman Riddell and John Mazur. Whether it was putting up a fence or a roof, fixing lawn mowers, or building a barn, David was able to do it all. He loved to cook, was an avid “gardener”, and loved to play golf (he even made his own golf tees for himself and his close friends).

In his pastime he enjoyed playing baseball, and he loved to teach his children the finer aspects of the sport in his backyard. He wanted them to be as knowledgeable as they could be with regards to everyday life skills. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching all New England sports teams.

David leaves behind his loving wife Molly Riddell and his children, daughter, Josie Mave Riddell, son, Weston David Riddell, and son, Owen Daniel Alibozek all of Dalton; his mother Jane S. Riddell of Dalton; his brother, Michael Riddell (Autumn Riddell) of Chesapeake, Va; his sister Melissa Riddell (Jason Pease) of Peru; as well as his maternal grandmother, Mary Roux Mazur of Pittsfield; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who all loved him dearly.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Riddell will be held, THURSDAY, August 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM at The First Congregational Church of Dalton. Friends and family members attending the service are encouraged to wear a team jersey representing any of the New England teams (Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, Bruins because David wouldn’t want it any other way!). There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the scholarship funds for Josie and Weston in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME 890 E. Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
