Obituary for Lena May McDonald

Lena May McDonald, 95, passed away peacefully April 27, 2018 at Craneville Place in Dalton.

Born August 27, 1922, the daughter of the late Frank W. and Mary Miner Mottor, she grew up on Middlefield Road, in Hinsdale. She was a graduate of the former Dalton High School, and worked at the General Electric in Pittsfield. She then went on to become a housekeeper for various families in the area, then then worked for Crane and Company before retiring.

In her spare time she would tend to the family garden and her flowers at her home on Crane Avenue in Dalton, and feeding the birds, was one of her joys. Her favorite place was Ozzie’s Steak and Eggs for their belly clam dinner, a favorite on her birthday especially.

She was married to Arthur D. McDonald for over 25 years. He passed away in 1972 and her son Arthur died in 2010. In addition to her husband and son, she was predeceased by her sisters, Jane Manning and Liz Henkel, as well as her brothers, Walter Manning and James Mottor, and her granddaughter Mary McDonald.

She is survived by her son Frank, Marilyn Walto, her brother Edward, her grandson Wayne, and her fur babies, Rocky, Sassy and Saphire.

Her family would like to thank the Unit 3 staff at Craneville Place of Dalton, for the kindness they showed her during her time there.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mrs. McDonald will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Dery-Foley Funeral Home, to help the family offset funeral costs.
