Obituary for Charles A "Sonny" Bastow

Charles A. “Sonny” Bastow, Jr., 87, of Pittsfield, MA, passed away April 8, 2018.
He was born October 2, 1929 to the late Charles A. and Margaret Mispel Bastow, Sr. He attended schools in Rock Hall, Maryland.

He was a US Air Force Veteran and served 25 years, and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He married the former Kaoru Sugahara December 14, 1953, in Japan.

He moved back to Pittsfield, after spending time overseas. He worked for E.D. Jones – Beloit, for 18 years as an assembler, retiring in 1989.

Sonny enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid gardener.

Besides his loving wife Kaoru, of 64 years, he leaves behind a son Charles A. Bastow III, of Pittsfield; a daughter Margret Sanderson of Pittsfield; a granddaughter, Greer Hed of Pittsfield; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Oyma Elbourn of Rock Hall, MD, and June Reid of Chesapeake City,MD; and a brother Sherman E. Bastow, Sr., of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by his sisters, Lorraine McCredie, Grace Harrison, Janes Fabrizi, Gladys Beck, and his brothers Robert Shepardson, Hugh Shepardson, and Ken Shepardson.
