Obituary for Norman A Shorey

Norman A  Shorey
Norman Allen Shorey, 94, of 42 Meadowview Drive, Pittsfield, passed away peacefully at home April 8, 2018. He was born January 27, 1924 to the late Sumner B. and Carrie Shorey.

He married the former Claudia B. Depping in April of 1948.

Mr. Shorey was a United States Army Veteran, having served in Europe. He worked for General Electric for 37 years, and also worked at the Veterans Hospital in Togus, ME. Norman spent his winters in Ocala, Florida, and was a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Dalton. A favorite pastime of his was feeding the birds.

He leaves behind his wife Claudia Shorey of Pittsfield; two daughters, Gail Cutrer of Buxton, ME, and Marybeth Burdett of Streamwood, IL; two sons, Claude Shorey of Plantsville, CT, and Michael Shorey of Pittsfield; a brother Walter Shorey of Sheepscot, ME; as well as ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters Dorothy and Hope and his brother Sumner.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Norman will be held, Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 11:00am at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield, with Rev. Christopher Malatesta, Pastor of St. Agnes Church, officiating. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00am to 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Springfield, in care of Dery Funeral Home 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
