Obituary for Robert Charles Barrett Sr.

Robert  Charles   Barrett Sr.
Robert Charles Barrett, Sr., 75, of Main Street, Cheshire, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Craneville Place of Dalton.
Born in Warrensburg, New York, on December 16, 1941, he was the son of Melvin T. and Alta Hayes Barrett.
He had been married to the former, Margaret Therrien.
Mr. Barrett owned and operated Bob Barrett Trucking for more than forty years.
Active in his community, Mr. Barrett had served as a member of the Cheshire Fire Department since August 16, 1982, and had also served as Tree Warden there.
He enjoyed working on trucks and was a Yankees fan.
Mr. Barrett is survived by three sons, Melvin T. Barrett (wife Terry) of Savoy, Robert C.
Barrett, Jr. (wife Diane) of Lanesborough, and Todd Robert Barrett (wife Brandi) of Nassau, N.Y.; two daughters, Beatrice F. Rozon (husband Scott) of Adams, and Carrie Barrett (significant other Zeb Catlin) of Pittsfield; a brother, Donald Barrett of North Carolina; three sisters, Lucille Sullivan of North Adams; Geraldine Hendricks of North Carolina, and Arlene Pero (husband Armond) of Georgia; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; as well as a former significant other, Connie Wood, mother of Todd and Carrie.

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Shirley Hall.

The Barrett family would like to like to thank Craneville Place of Dalton, where Mr. Barrett had resided the last two years who were also like family to Mr. Barrett and family.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Robert C. Barrett, Sr. will be held Thursday, November 2, at 11:00 a.m. at DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. William D. Furey officiating. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire Fire
Department, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the Alzheimer’s Association, all in care of the
Funeral Home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire.
