Obituary for Frank D. Maffuccio

Frank Daniel Maffuccio, 89, of 8 Ashley Street, Pittsfield, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at his home. Born in Salerno, Italy, on November 26, 1927, the son of Donato and Josephine Cerulli
Maffuccio, his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Pittsfield where he attended local schools. A World War II veteran, Mr. Maffuccio enlisted with the United States Navy on December 28, 1945, served as a Seaman Second Class, and was honorably discharged on November 4, 1947. Primarily a truck driver, Mr. Maffuccio had been employed by General Electric Company, was a milkman for the Pittsfield Milk Exchange, an oil delivery man for Lipton Oil and a bus driver for the Pittsfield Public Schools. He retired in 1994. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, was his greatest joy. He also enjoyed vending at flea markets with his wife Anita. Mr. Maffuccio’s wife, the former Anita Claire Fontaine, whom he married July 19, 1952, died August 19, 2017. Mr. Maffuccio is survived by his daughters, Laura L Maffuccio of Dalton, Ann M Maffuccio of Lanesborough, and LucySchindler and her husband Michael of Lanesborough; his grandchildren, Maggie MacWilliams, Kristy MacWilliams, Michael Maffuccio and his wife Vanna, Mic Schindler, Keith Schindler and his fiancée Alicia Shampang, and Dominic Maffuccio; and his great granddaughters, Jayde MacWilliams, Josslyn Rustay, and Brooke Maffuccio. He is also survived by his brothers, Carmelo Maffuccio and his wife Marilyn of Pittsfield and Lorenzo Maffuccio of Lee; and his sisters, Mary Palma of Pittsfield, Lucy Santolin of Lee, and Virginia Maffuccio of Pittsfield, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Raphaele Maffuccio. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Frank Daniel Maffuccio will be held Tuesday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor Emeritus. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54
