Elizabeth M. Foster, 92, of 51 Michael Drive passed away at home on Saturday, August 19, 2017 with her loving family by her side. A longtime Dalton resident, she had resided in Pittsfield for the past nineteen years. Born on August 26, 1924 in Warrensburg, NY, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Harriet Kelly Morrison. She was educated in Warrensburg schools and was a 1942 graduate of Warrensburg Central High School. Continuing her education, she went on to Plattsburgh State Teachers College where she received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics in 1946. She later studied at Cornell University. She married her husband, the late John C. Foster on September 3, 1949. He passed away on March 6, 2011. Mrs. Foster was a dedicated teacher at Wahconah Regional High School in Dalton from 1965 to 1981 where she taught Home Economics and was class advisor to the Class of 1970. She retired from teaching in 1981. Liz was a longtime communicant of St. Agnes Church where she served as a lector and Eucharist minister. She was the first woman elected to chair the St. Agnes Parish Council. Her deep faith also led her to the Marian Fathers in Stockbridge where she volunteered for many years. An avid bridge player, she and her husband were members of the 28 Couples Bridge Club. She also enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox and entertaining family and friends in her home. She leaves her large loving family of five daughters and two sons; Diane F. Marshall and her husband James of Fitchburg, MA, Mary Ellen Abodeely and her husband Philip of Peabody, MA, Katherine F. Winslow and her husband George of Greenfield, MA, Susan F. Eastaugh and her husband Thomas of Holliston, MA, Sally F. Capeless and her husband Matthew of Pittsfield, John C. Foster Jr. and his wife Madelyn of Pittsfield and Michael H. Foster of Lancaster, NH. Fourteen grandchildren: James Marshall, Kevin Marshall and his wife Jen, Sarah Marshall, Brian Winslow and his wife Stephanie, Kelly Winslow, Peter Winslow and his wife Rachael, Emily Winslow, Caroline Foster, Patricia Foster, Laura Eastaugh, Jennifer Eastaugh, Brianne Capeless, Matthew Capeless and Johnny Capeless. She also leave four great grandchildren; Riley Marshall, Jack Marshall, Collin Winslow and Sean Winslow and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother; Patrick Morrison, her daughter-in-law; Lori Foster and by her special cousins; Gene Kelly and Patricia Broderick.


FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Elizabeth M. Foster, 92, of Pittsfield who passed away August 19, 2017 will be held Thursday at 9:15 AM from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in DALTON followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church in Dalton celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Pittsfield. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in DALTON. Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Foster may be made to St. Agnes Academy or to Hospice Care in the Berkshires both in care of the funeral home, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
