Obituary for Elizabeth " “Betty”" Underhill

Elizabeth “Betty” Underhill, age 87, of Bancroft Road, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. She was born in Pittsfield on July 27, 1929, the daughter of the late Ralph L. Gardner and Katherine Ryan Gradner Scago. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School.
Betty had worked as a tabber for the former Shaeffer-Eaton Paper Company for over fifteen years until 1988. She had previously worked as a waitress at the former Carnute’s Restaurant. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, and travelling to the ocean.
Betty is survived by her two daughters: Dianne Blake (and husband Edward) of Pittsfield, Patricia Tornicelli (and partner Denise) of Lenox; three sons: Allan Underhill (and wife Carmella) of Pittsfield, Theodore Underhill, III of Becket, and James Underhill (and wife Angela) of Pittsfield; two sisters: Charlotte Sauve of Balston Lake, NY, and Trina Barnes (and husband Bob) of Richmond, MA; two brothers: Thomas Gardner (and wife Nancy) of Dalton, MA, and William Gardner (and wife Patricia) of Dalton, MA; her sister-in-law: Judy Scago of Pittsfield; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her three sisters: Patricia Anderson, Ellen Caffery, and Dorothy Cowan; and her two brothers: Ralph Gardner, and Frank Scago.

FUNERAL NOTICE In keeping with Betty’s wishes, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield is in charge of arrangements.
