Obituary for Sylvia C. Cone

Sylvia Colla Cone 76, of Pittsfield died April 24, 2017 at Springside of Pittsfield. Born on September 7, 1941 in Pittsfield a daughter of the late Edward and Helen Leja Colla. She attended schools in Pittsfield and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Sylvia had been employed for the New England Telephone Company for 45 years, she had also at onetime worked part time at the Big Y. She was a communicant of Saint Joseph’s Church and had volunteered at the Christian Center for many years. She was the wife of Francis Cone who passed away in 1979.
Her longtime companion Hanley Palmer died April 8, 2016.
She leaves one brother Carl Colla of Pittsfield and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by two sisters, Marcella Stimpson and Pauline Cunningham and by two brothers, Edward Colla, Jr. and Charles Colla.


Funeral Notice; Funeral services for Sylvia Colla Cone will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield,Ma. with the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The family would like to thank the staff at Melbourne Place for their kindness and good care of our Aunt. We would also like to thank Jennifer Tyne, Sylvia’s guardian, for all her wonderful care with our aunt. All of us would like to also thank Hospice for their care during Sylvia’s last days.
