Obituary for Edward Zegarowski

Edward Zegarowski, 86, of 441 Plunkett Reservoir Rd, Hinsdale, formerly of Pittsfield died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield, September 29, 1929, the son of the late Julian and Francesca (Laska) Zegarowski. He was educated in Pittsfield Schools.
Ed was a lifelong surveyor; he began his surveying career while enlisted in the United States Army and serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home from the service Ed continued his work as a surveyor in the construction field, working for what is now known as SK Design Group. After his retirement Ed went to work for Stop& Shop, where he was employed for more than twenty years.
Ed was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, tinkering and fixing all kinds of different things, and creating his concrete lawn ornaments. Ed was an especially creative person and enjoyed spending time with his family and beloved grandsons.
Ed is survived by his daughter; Sheriann Stanton and her husband Robert of Hinsdale, MA; his granddaughter; Jaime LaFreniere and her husband Judd of Becket, MA; his four grandsons; Dominic Carnevale and Bryce Stanton of Hinsdale, Jarrod Stanton of Gardner, MA and Joshua Stanton and his wife Karli of Pittsfield, MA; his four great-grandchildren; Sara, Kelsey, Parker and Weston; his sister-in-law; Olivia Zegarowski of Pittsfield, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was pre-deceased by his brothers, Paul, Walter, Victor, Zigmund and Steven; and his sisters, Eleanor Misco, Pauline Zaveruka, Helen Boland, Nellie Greb, and Wanda Coty, as well as his longtime companion Marlene Mottor.

Funeral Notice:
Funeral Services for Edward Zegarowski, 86, who died Thursday November 5th, will be held at the Dery-Foley Funeral Home, in Dalton, on Saturday November 14th beginning at 12 Noon, celebrated by Rev. Richard E. Hayes, Chaplain of HospiceCare in the Berkshires. A Calling hour will precede the service beginning at 11AM. Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery, in Hinsdale. Memorial Donations in Ed's memory can be made to the Overcoming Obstacles Scholarship through the BCC Foundation, in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
