Obituary for Alton J. "Aldy" Ellsworth Sr.

Alton John "ALDY" Ellsworth, Sr. age 81, of Blue Ridge Avenue, Belton, South Carolina, formerly of Dalton, died suddenly Sunday, February 7, 2016 at home surrounded by his wife and son. He was born in Stephentown, New York on June 11, 1934, the son of the late Alton G. and Phoebe M. Pratt Ellsworth. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 until 1955 stationed in Japan.
Aldy had been employed by the General Electric Company for 26 ½ years as a machine operator in the Transformer Department retiring in 1993. Prior to that he had driven feed trucks for several years for AGWAY and had also worked on Mount Greylock during the construction of the tower at the peak of the mountain.
Aldy married the former Elizabeth J. "Betty" Deloye on November 3, 1956.
Besides his wife, Aldy is survived by his two daughters: Betty Jane (and Gerald Sr.) Oakes of Peru, MA; Juley Ann (and Charles) Karasz of Cherry Plains, NY; his son: Alton J. Ellsworth, Jr. of Belton, SC; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: John A. (and Janet) Ellsworth, Henry G. Ellsworth, and Edward L. (and Elaine) Smith; and his sister: Emily M. Smith. He was pre-deceased by his brother Raymond.

FUNERAL NOTICE Funeral services will be held TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield with Rev. Arthur Oakes officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 PM at Agawam Veteran's Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours will be MONDAY from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
