Obituary for Homer Ouellette

Pittsfield – Homer L. Ouellette, 90, of 28 Hopewell Drive, Pittsfield, died August 11, 2016 at the Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittsfield on March 18, 1926, the son of Adolph and Anne M. Corcoran Ouellette, he was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A WWII and Korean War veteran, Homer enlisted with the United States Navy on May 16, 1944 and was honorably discharged on March 14, 1946; he then re-enlisted on June 10, 1948 and was again honorably discharged on June 9, 1953. Homer was employed by General Electric for forty years where he was a Manufacturing Program Manager. Homer was a "Naturalist and avid Outdoorsman," he had a camp known as the "Owl's Nest" in Vermont where he loved to spend time with his friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; especially ice fishing and fly fishing; he even tied his own flies. He enjoyed trivia, crossword puzzles, being a handyman and gardening. He was also an avid fan of the New England Patriots. Homer was a longtime member of the Dalton American Legion, where he honorably served on the honor guard. He is survived by his wife of 67 years the former Muriel D. Dupuis, whom he married July 23, 1949 in the former Notre Dame Church, a daughter; Monica M. Jardin and her husband Kenneth of Hebron, CT, and a son; Mark L. Ouellette and his wife Jeanie of Seattle, WA, his two grandsons; Philip L. Torrey and his wife Alexis T. of Arlington, MA and Daniel M. Jardin of Dallas, TX, and his great grandson; Jack Ouellette, his brother; Paul T. Ouellette of Lanesboro, MA and his sister Jeanne M. Brighenti of Lee, MA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Ann Flint. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Homer L. Ouellette, 90, who died August 11, 2016 will be held Tuesday, August 16, at 9:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Homer's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
