John A. Tatro, 74, of 449 Churchill St. Pittsfield, died on December 16, 2016, at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pittsfield, on June 28, 1942, the son of the late William and Genevieve Ballardini Tatro. John was educated in local schools and was a 1960 graduate of Pittsfield High School. John loved spending time with his family, especially his daughters and cherished grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, golfing and was an avid reader. He was a former member of Berkshire Hills Country Club, a self-taught musician who played the organ and the piano, and a dedicated fan of the New York Giants football team and the Boston Red Sox. He loved to travel, especially going on cruises with his wife and friends, and to take trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine, with his family. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed many handy-man projects. John also taught after-school robotics programs in the Pittsfield Public Schools and a pre-engineering course at Taconic High School.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Kathleen M. Finnegan, whom he married on July 2, 1966, at St. Charles Church in Pittsfield; three daughters, Melissa A.
