Obituary for John J. Evans

John Joseph Evans, 95, of 319 Outlook Avenue, Cheshire, died Monday, January 16, 2017, at his home surrounded by family members.
Born in Davenport, Iowa, on March 28, 1921, the son of William F. and Florence Stalder
Evans, he was a 1936 graduate of Davenport High School.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Davenport was inducted into the United States Marine
Corps on March 29, 1944, served as a Private First Class, and was honorably discharged on
August 3, 1946.
Mr. Evans had been employed in Davenport where he was a pattern maker for plastics and molds.
In his earlier years, Mr. Evans played semi-pro baseball and for the Northwest Turners slow pitch softball. He was a Cubs fan and got to see them win a world series. He also enjoyed playing golf, bike riding, and fishing.
Mr. Evans leaves his wife, the former Isobel Thompson Witto, whom he married in 2001. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Jeanne Largent Evans.
He is also survived by five stepchildren, Susan Goodell and her husband, Wayne, of North Adams, Jean Delmolino of Cheshire, Judy Gaylord and her husband, Kenneth, of Cheshire,
Nancy Raymond and her husband, Craig, of Adams, and James Witto and his wife, Laurie, of
Cheshire; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews, including Pastor William J. Evans and his wife, Sherry, of Blue Grass, Iowa.
He was pre-deceased by his stepson-in-law, David Delmolino.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for John Joseph Evans are private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at a later date in Davenport Memorial Park in Iowa.
